When you write to us about a stay: your name, email, an optional phone or WhatsApp number, your dates, the number of guests, the retreat you have in mind, and your message.

When you subscribe to Notes from the Sierra: your email only.

We do not collect payment details on this site. Deposits, when you choose to pay one, are handled by our payment provider on their own systems.

To answer you personally, to prepare your stay, and — with your consent — to send occasional notes from the Sierra. Under Colombian Law 1581 of 2012 and, where it applies, the GDPR, we rely on your consent and on the performance of a stay agreement.

Our hosting and database providers, acting on our instructions, and our email provider so that a reply can reach you. Nobody buys this data, and we do not sell or trade it. Some of these providers operate outside Colombia and the European Union under standard contractual protections.

Enquiries for up to three years after your last contact, so that a returning guest is remembered. Newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe.

You may ask to see, correct, port, or delete what we hold, withdraw consent, or object to a use. Write to hello@riocaracoli.com; we answer within fifteen working days. If our answer does not satisfy you, you may address the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio in Colombia, or your local data protection authority.

The retreat is adults-only, and this site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect their data.

An enquiry is not a booking. We reply personally, confirm availability, and only then propose dates in writing. A stay is confirmed when we have written confirmation and the agreed deposit.

Rates are quoted per stay in the confirmation, in Colombian pesos or United States dollars, and include the taxes stated there. A deposit of thirty percent secures the dates; the balance is due on arrival unless we agree otherwise.

Cancel more than fourteen days before arrival and the deposit is refunded in full.

Cancel between fourteen and seven days before arrival and half the deposit is refunded.

Cancel within seven days of arrival, arrive later, or leave earlier, and the deposit is not refunded. We will always try to move your dates instead, once, within twelve months.

Rivers rise, roads close, weather turns. If we cannot receive you for reasons of force majeure we will offer new dates or return what you have paid. We are not liable for costs beyond that, including flights.

The retreat is adults-only, and suites hold two guests. Cold water, heat, trails, and river swimming carry ordinary risk; you take part at your own discretion and should tell us of any condition that matters. Guided excursions are operated by licensed local partners. Please treat the house, the river, and the Sierra with the care they are owed.

Our liability is limited to the amount paid for your stay, except where Colombian law does not allow such a limit. These terms are governed by the laws of Colombia, with the courts of Santa Marta, Magdalena, competent. Questions: reservations@riocaracoli.com.

We use Plausible Analytics, which is privacy-first, sets no cookies, and collects no personal or cross-site data. It tells us only how many people read a page and which pages they came from, in aggregate.

One small entry in your browser's local storage remembering whether you read the site in English or Spanish. Nothing else, and nothing shared.

Fonts are served by Google Fonts, and payment links open on our provider's own pages, where their policies apply. If you follow a link to Instagram, Pinterest, or YouTube, those platforms set their own cookies.
